Blah Blah Work

At work today we got the official memo about the band of social networking sites

Although our ability to “Keep Up With The Times” in technology has been very instrumental in our success, we have determined that the increased problems with our internet connections is largely due to the volume of internet activity involving sites which are not work-related (youtube, radio stations, iTunes, facebook, etc)

Maybe its true or maybe not. Whatever the case is, now it makes sense to me that my internet would freeze up my whole computer when I had Facebook, Pandora, (insert name here) blog, shopping site, etc open in multiple windows. Again like I said I don’t find that this has affected me much cuz I use my iPhone for all of that.

But the point of this blog was to say that at the end of the memo it stated

In addition, please refrain from wearing headphones while working (safety headphone excepted). Besides being a possible ciolation of our Insurance coverage, that practice limites the ability of (my company name) employees to be aware of what is happening in the operation of our business.

Now that just hit rock bottom for me. Music is what gets me thru the day….I guess I have to buy black headphones instead of the white ipod ones, so it can camouflage with my hair….hahahha

Also, today was the last day here for one of my co-workers. She is off to England to pursue her dreams in building her own brassiere business. Good luck to you and best wishes. Check out her blog for interesting news and posts about female undergarments and other randoms of course Life in The Lingerie Lane

BAND Social Networking

It was eventually going to happen. The J-O-B, finally banded all social networking sites from us. Got into work this morning and got a CODE RED email from a co-worker. She was losin' it! NO biggie for me though cuz I have an iPhone, so I could just use that for FB, Myspace, and Twitter. I'm slowly straying away from MySpace, and getting into Facebook more. Regardless I've been intercepted of social networking sites because I've gotten into reading blogs more! And I actually never sign into Twitter via computer...I found it easier to use the Tweetie app on my phone. I could make money off my co-worker who does 98% of her communication through MySpace (loser - haha). Already today she's come to me 2x for longer than 5 minutes just to use my phone and check her MySpace messages. This could be bad for some, but good for me (cha-ching$$) haha, nah, I wouldn't charge...or maybe...

Busy Bee

This is for anyone that really cares. hahhaha

Sorry for the lack of post. I've been pretty busy at work and that's when I usually blog. Blogging at work? Not good, I know, but when it was slow at work that's how I came upon even starting a blog. I don't blog at home unless I really have nothing to do. I'd rather spend my time with my son. My moms' had family here from the P.I. so we've been out and about. But I do have stuff to blog about. Hopefully soon....

Oh and I'm feeling for a blog makeover or even migrate somewhere more design friendly since I am not too computer literate.

But don't stray away! Thanks :D

Random

***so I've had this draft saved since Tuesday...and finally finished, this post probably has no cohesiveness (is that a word) whatsoever. i don't really care.

I feel like I've been disconnected with the WWW as of late. NO FB, MS, TWITTER, personal email, B.LOG (mine as well as others). I guess that just goes to say that I've been somewhat occupied at work and home. I see it as a good thing tho, because we all know how much time social networking and being on the internet consumes out of your day. Imagine how much other shit you could do or accomplish in day if you didn't sign in to any of the above just to keep updated with your life for others to see...right?!

Anyways, I had a pretty good weekend. And to my surprise none of it involved having to get prettied up to head to a club or bar. The past weekend's events included my bf's bday dinner, nephew's 2 parties & celebration of one of my good friends getting his own pad. It was just nice to be surrounded by friends and family all weekend. I pretty much drank every single day and night of the weekend, but no crazy drunkeness.

I learned so much this weekend about myself and life and I just wanted to share it with you:

*my friend that got a pad has been doing big things with his life. he's been married for 2 years, (is it?), has 2 kids, and him and his wife are basically building their business on the side while still maintaining a daily job and taking care of their kids. i just look at their relationship and think "daym they are so happy together" i found out what it is that keeps them going and striving to do better everday.

the answer is GOD. i am not a devout catholic and don't practice as much as i want to, but i saw from their relationship that god is what keeps them sane. "as long as you have god in the middle, everything will work out" - M.L. for a minute i had to honestly ask my friend's wife if she was catholic or christian. DOH! I already knew the answer to that, but I just had to be sure. i don't know if it was cuz we were buzzin' or whatever, but the conversation i had with her hit home and made me realize thats all it takes. involving god in your life and your relationships with people make it stronger.

*if you've created one of those FB quizzes "How well do you know (insert name here)" then you can see who knows you better than others. i found out that some of the people that you don't see often may know you better than your BEST FRIEND that you see all the time. I love my BF to death but 42% wasn't too impressive. we realized that even though we are best friends there are some little things we tend to forget about each other. we laughed about it cuz it was kinda stupid for a quiz to judge how well your friendship is. we joked about going on a date together to get to know each other again, or for lack of a better word, to get to know each other better.

*a little late for mother's day, which was almost 2 weeks ago, but this weekend I got the most compliments ever. "michelle, you're such a good mom" "michelle, i give you props for doing it on your own" "michelle, i don't know how you do it" "michelle, your son is such a good child" basically lots of compliments left and right. it made me feel good to see that other people do see that i try my best to take care of my son and i guess it's obvious because they can see how well taken care of jeremiah is. had a drunken talk with my homeboy (father of 2 in story #1) and he was praising me (hmmm, praising...not a good choice of word, but can't think of anything else). it was just nice to hear. because i don't go out seeking for compliments so it was definitely a boost of self-esteem for me and just makes me want to do even better for Jeremiah.

*my mom prepared a majority of the food for my nephew's 2 parties. food was grrrreeat. full course homemade filipino dishes. she worked very hard till really late at night and again really early in the morning to continue and finish. i just really appreciate my mother and how hard she works to give the ones she loves everything she can. i don't tell her often or even ever that i truly appreciate everything she does. and it is very ungrateful that people take advantage of her kindness and love. she works way too hard and tires herself just to make means for others. and i'm glad she raised me into the woman i am today, cuz i saw a side of someone this weekend, that was an ungrateful shit (maybe it was just that moment, but it is something i won't tolerate). i love my mommy that's all!

oh shit....was that it??? idk, maybe. i waited to daym long to finish up this post i don't even know if that's all. i'm sure there was meant to be more but my brain went on a detour for the past 3 days. sorry for the random sentimental blurbs.

OXen

A couple of co-workers and I got on the subject of Chinese horoscope because she said her sign was compatible with Rpatz (we were talking abou his birthday today and ended on this subject). For a moment there, I wasn't 100% sure what my chinese horoscope was, so I did a little research to confirm, and I was right, I am the OXen (feminine form of OX, well I like to think so, LOL). So anyone else that was born in 1985 can get familiar below.

The Ox of Chinese Astrology is no bull in a china shop. Steadfast and solid, this powerful Sign is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. Oxen tend to be plodding and methodical; they approach projects in the step-by-step manner that serves them best, and they never lose sight of their goal. They are tireless workers who are detail-oriented and believe in doing things right the first time.

The world may perceive Oxen as being far too serious or incapable of loosening up. This sturdy sort is less than social by nature and tends to become introverted in a crowd. To make things worse, they can't be bothered with what other people think and prefer to do what makes them feel best. Behind that calm facade, though, lives an Ox who can feel hurt, lonely and unable to connect with others. Friends and family are a great source of comfort to this beast, even if they don't always understand what makes the Ox tick. As a lover, friend, family member or housemate, the Ox makes a wonderfully strong, tender and affectionate companion who is protective and always reliable.

Out in the world, though, Oxen tend to be stubborn, dogmatic, my-way-or-the-highway kind of people who have no concept of when to back down. Oxen don't care to be pushed, especially since they think they're the good guys of the Chinese Zodiac. There is some truth to that theory, since the Ox is smart, trustworthy, caring and honorable. If you need honest, steady and unbiased advice, call on the Ox.

A good lesson for mighty Oxen is to strive to overcome a judgmental nature that keeps them from getting close to others. If they can learn to value their own good qualities, they'll have more room in their hearts to invite others in.

The Ox can do well this year through steady progress. There may be a number of experiences that will provide great joy for the Ox. One area, in particular, is the Ox's personal life. You may see an addition to the family. You will be surrounded by those who care. Look for the early summer months to attend many social occasions, providing many new faces in your social circle. One area of focus is to be open to the advice of others, as you tend to keep your issues to yourself. Overall, your own year can be one that you will look back on with pride and a genuine sense of achievement.

OX Career
In 2009, the Oxen will be given many opportunities to further your plans and goals, as well as consolidate your position. Steady progress is the position where the Ox is most comfortable and that is where you will find yourself this year. You will also have a chance to impress and gain support from those around you. This is a good year to enhance your skills and add to your repertoire with added training or study. You will be satisfied in knowing that anything you do this year will repay you in this year and the years to come. The months of May, late August and September may mark a change in your career.

OX Relationships
2009 will be a year of personal happiness. For the single Ox, there may be a chance to engage in new and meaningful friendships, romance, and possibly even marriage. Others will take comfort in their domestic and social lives. Being an Ox year, this is one that will provide enjoyment for you as long as you allow it. Beware of your strong will and do not allow any minor disagreements to escalate and put a damper on a fine year. May is a month that will highly favor a chance meeting or a heightened level in a relationship.

OX Health
Health matters don't seem to be too much of a concern for the Ox this year, as you are good at implementing some sort of physical activity into your routine. The Ox's discipline does well to carry over into your health. It never hurts to find ways to improve in this area, so don’t discount anything that will improve the quality of your life. Even though there may not be any large issues, stress can be a surmounting factor to be aware.

OX Wealth
The Ox could enjoy an improvement financially, but you may face a number of large expenses over the year. To maneuver your budget through the year of the Ox, exercise care and sensible spending. It would be wise to seek professional advice when it comes to any speculative ventures or risky investments that create some sense of doubt.

Keepin' it Crackin' at the Gym

I could probably get citated for some form of harassment or something...but I just wanted to share this with you. And for some of you nasties out there, you'd probably wish you were me. This was taken a few months ago.

And today I witnessed something pretty disturbing as I was walking back to the locker room. A fat tattooed harley lookin' man goes up to another man and rubs the other man's sweaty, hairy arm and then proceeds to lick his hand. The hand that he just used to give a rub down! BLECK!

I guess if you go to the gym I go to in the SOMA district you are bound to see things you don't want. OR encounter things you wouldn't expect, like DIKEY ass woman in the locker room giving you a stare down. YIKES!

P.S. if you are super HOMOphob, you should never step foot in here.

if we sit, they can kneel

The Japanese come up with the silliest shit ever. I have a co-worker that likes to get silly lil gag gifts from a shop in Japantown, like an inflatable duck's beak to place on your crotch. WTF? But really, I wonder...do they make this stuff for fun, or do they really find a purpose for it. Whatever it is, it sure makes me think, that anything is possible...

I HATE REGGAETONE

that's it

It's the Little Things

My Mother's Day:
My mom jumps into my bed with me screaming "Happy Mother's Day" and I'm not having it. It is the worse when your in a deep sleep and get woken up. I managed to open my eyes to check the time and it was 7:56am....pshhhhhhh....too damn early still for me. I like to sleep in. But Jeremiah heard all the commotion and got up, walked into my room, and handed me his Mother's Day gift for me that he's been wanting me to open since I picked him up at school on Friday. And this is what it was

Before he even shows me everything, I'm tearing up, I'm such a sap. It's the little things that get to me, just like when he randomly tells me "Mommy, I love you" I just wanted to share this story with you.

We got up and went to church. Had an early brunch with my mom and that was the highlight of my Mother's Day. Didn't do much or get much, but I wasn't expecting anything, really, so I wasn't too disappointed. Everyone that matters to me greeted me a Happy Mother's Day...and that was enough for me. I am just very grateful that people appreciate what a special day this is to mothers. Thank you.

Mama's Day

Almost 5 years ago, this day was just celebrated for one special person in my life – my mother.  It's the usual routine: take her out for a meal and shower her with gifts type of deal.  But being a mother deserves much more than this.  I can finally speak for it.  I LOVE BEING A MOTHER but it sure ain't easy.  I've been very fortunate to have a mother that has supported me from the day I broke the news to her about being pregnant.  She has been very understanding and supportive in every way and I am very thankful for that.  The same way I hope one day my son will be thankful for all that I've given him.  I've raised my son on my own for the past 5 years and I just want to take this moment to give a big pat on the back to all the mothers that raise their child(ren) by themselves.  It's tough for 2 parents to raise a child, so just imagine how it is for a single person to do it…

Being a mother is a job in itself:  waking up at random times in the early mornings to tend to a crying infant, changing dirty diapers, struggling to give them a bath because you don't want water to get in their ears, feeding them, the lack of sleep you get, the constant worry if he/she is ok, getting them ready in the morning, watching them go to school, helping them with their homework, making sure they've got everything they need, answering bazaar questions like "do zombies have souls?" (one of Jeremiah's real questions), just about anything you could think of.

Just be appreciative of all the things your mother has provided for you.  Regardless if she agreed or disagreed with any decisions you've made, you know she'll back you up no matter what and that's all because she LOVEs you.

I love watching my son grow physically and mentally.  Having a child is truly a gift from God and my son is my wonderful blessing.  So hug your moms a little bit longer and tell them you love them.  Today is their special day.

HAPPY MOTHER's DAY

date with Edward

It's been a month and a half since the release of Twilight on DVD. I couldn't decide whether or not I wanted to purchase a regular DVD or some special set. I finally decided why the hell not get the special edition 2-disc set. I was juiced about my purchase until I got an email letting me know that my order will not be shipped until mid-April. So I wait.....and wait.....and wait. Get another email stating that Since one or more of the items you ordered has been backorder for an extended period of time and its future availability is uncertain, we have cancelled your order. Nooooooooooooooo! Not cool at all. Until I get another email 4 days later telling me that my order has been shipped! :D (jumping for joy). I picked up my DVD on Monday and have a date to watch it this weekend, both disc.

So if I don't go out or respond to anyones calls, then you know why. I need my Twilight fix. Thx.

Life in LA - Day 4 - Last Day

Check out me and MJ's new tats! She is the 'ying' to my 'yang'.

SIKE! hahaa, we didn't end up getting tats. But we did laugh about it as we passed a tattoo shop.

Anyways, our last day in LA. We're pretty much worn out but still try to make the best of our last day. Since we weren't sure if we checked out all the shops on Melrose the day before, that was our destination for today. So we called up Habib to pick us up in his taxi and take us to Melrose x Fairfax.

The NOT eating before going out has already become an LA habit. So our shopping experience today was such a drag, until we regained energy at 8 oz. Burger Bar. Not picture worthy because it wasn't that great. And P.S. our server had her tramp stamp exposed which I thought was very unprofessional. UGH!

Last photo in LA...

Well technically this is our last picture at LAX. So sad to go back to REALity. Boooooooooooooooo.

Thanks Lyss for the "Life in LA" experience. 43. We'll be back to do it even more LIVE!

Life in LA - Day 3

Ok, 2 more LA post to go...haha. Getting bored yet?

Sunday = Funday...a relaxing day to just chill and shop till we drop. Bad planning though. Woke up late and headed to Melrose Ave to shop. Keep in mind it's a bout 2pm and we haven't eaten yet. Then I realize, daym it's Sunday and shops usually close earlier on Sundays. FUCK! Oh well, we make our way to Melrose and don't even know where to start. We're freakin' hungry but don't want to miss all shops before they close, so we shop until we find a decent spot to eat at. NO FOOD=NO ENERGY to shop = NO BUENO.

It was my first time shopping on Melrose, so I pretty much went into every store that looked appealing to me. I bought way more than I should have. Ended up with like 5 dresses that I can't even wear until weather permits. Along the way, we saw these...

"Where the Wild Things" mural...pretty dope!
DIMEPIECE window installment for their S/S 09 collection - Plastic City at the Joyrich Store

OK, we pretty much waited till we got to the end of the strip to eat and ended up at Vienna Cafe. Food took forever to come out, or maybe it was just because we were that fuckin' hungry. Definitely worth the wait though. YUM-O.

Shops were closing and it was time to head out to meet MJ's fam for some Cuban cuisine. We ate at Versailles Cafe. Servers were all really nice and gave us recommendations on what to try. We had Yuca Frita (YUCK), roasted garlic chicken and some shredded beef dish that resembled calderata if your filipino, then you know what I mean. Still not really sure how to describe Cuban food. It's like filipino food and mexican food put together I guess.

Ahhh, the night is not over yet (and this post is getting too long) so basically we went out for one last hoo-rah at Opera/Crimson in Hollywood. Crimson was the most chill and had the best type of music out of the 3 we went to. BEST MUSIC I must repeat, yes it was that good. Better people too! hahahaa. This place cracks for a Sunday night.

MJ and I were so buzzed we had a convo about getting tats on our wrist the next day. It was the funniest shit ever. We were so juiced and so down...so check out my next LA blog to find out if we did or not. There was more debauchery later that night at the apt...till like 5am. Good times, good times.

Life in LA - Day 2

We had a domino effect of waking up...we were all up before 10am. I'm telling you the Pink's cracks. Anyways, we had a good brunch at this spot called Maxwell's. Very good quality tasting food. We needed energy to take us shopping down Main St. & 3rd St. Promenade. 3rd St. is a must when visting Santa Monica. Went into the David & Goliath store and in the back there was a Pop-Factory gallery of paintings done by Todd Goldman.

Back to the apt to unwind from a long day of shopping and walking. Our days were non-stop. Time to get ready for dinner at the Buddha Belly at Santa Monica. Very good asian fusion food. Service was pretty crappy though.

After dinner, our plans for the rest of the night were still in the air. Kicked it with Aaron while he took us to a local bar called Saints & Sinners. Definitely was not our scene...so we convinced him to journey with us to Hollywood again.

Went to The Highlands. The club was in the same area of the famous Grauman's Chinese Man theater. The view from the club was beauts. Overlooking the Hollywood strip. Very diverse club with different music all night long. Stayed till closing - 3am.

"Life in LA is sooooo insane" Day 2 SUCCESSFUL

Life in LA - Day 1

Sorry for the lack of updates. Plain & simple: I've been pretty lazy to even blog, cuz I don't even know who the hell is even interested in my blog. hahhaa. Anyways, I'm keeping the next LA post short and sweet, less words, more photos.

Ate at the Veggie Grill, everything on the menu is organic. I had a burger and a carne asada type of burrito. Both were equally filling and delicious for a first time experience.

Waiting for a special EXPRESS delivery, pineapple, maybe?

Heading to Venice Beach a.k.a Muscle Beach for some R&R
Too bad it was too freakin' windy to do anything, really. MJ and I were not dressed appropriately for this 6o somethin' degree weather. And we didn't bring a mat or anything to lay out on the beach, so we strolled the sidewalk for a lil bit.

Headed to House of Thai to grub and then back to the apt to get ready for our first night out in LA. LADIES NIGHT fa sho', 5 deep at the Social Nightclub in Hollywood.

Shots of Priv and JD all night long!

From THIS ---> To THIS:

Then for an after club remedy we tried Pink's Famous Hot Dogs. Them doggies crack fa sho. Have one these and you are guaranteed for no hangover.

the J-O-B

Sad happenings at work today...didn't think this would happen here. But economy is definitely in a rutt and things need to be done to keep business going. I'm praying that I'm still in good hands.
